Flowers

Flowers for the president. Well, a flower. Small and yellow and not particularly pretty. Certainly not as impressive as some of the lush gardens in Eden's database. But it was a real flower and, over the weeks and months, the hardy little thing stubbornly grew stronger and healthier.

God knows where Autumn found the seeds to grow it from. He returned to water the plant every day, never needing a reminder. Eden had to gently warn him that too much water could do just as much harm as too little. Regardless, the young and idealistic colonel continued dropping by every evening just to chat. It was a simpler time. A happier time.
